Bovine Tuberculosis (TB) previously presented an insurmountable challenge to many New Zealand farmers with most herd infections being traced back to disease carrying possums. Orillion’s products have successfully eradicated the disease from large parts of the country. This success has empowered a plan to be developed for the complete eradication of TB from wildlife vectors by 2040, with our products continuing to play an influential role on the path to TB freedom.
In September 2015 the number of bovine tuberculosis (TB) infected herds dropped below 40 for the first time in the history of New Zealand’s TBfree programme delivered by OSPRI. According to the figures, an all-time low of 36 herds were infected with bovine TB (34 cattle and two deer herds).
